Biggest Loser

I love the ‘Biggest Loser’.  I haven’t watched it in awhile (I watched the 2nd or 3rd season), but I still catch an episode every now and again.  This is my story.

When I got married (May 22, 2002) I was the heaviest ever at 261 lbs.  What can I say, I was happy ;)   We’ve done diets every now and again with varying success.  With atkins and a half-marathon training program, I got down to 219.  However, I kind of burned myself out on the running and over time (2 years or so) my weight was back up to 257.  That was 2-weeks before this past christmas (so Dec 15-ish, 2006).

Thats when some really good friends of ours (Jon and Gillian) invited us to do the Weight Watchers point-system with them (we didn’t do the meetings, just the points).  With that, I got back down to 219 in about 3 months.   Then I changed jobs and a bunch of crazy life-stuff was happening and we kinda fell off the diet.  It wasn’t exactly a total leap though…we were still being careful about what we ate…just not as strictly.  I certainly couldn’t tell you my points for the day.

About a week ago I got back on the scale.  I was REALLY avoiding it.  I was shocked at what it told me:  219.  I got on 3 times:  219 every time.  WOW.  Ok.  So I maintained.

At the new job, Ryan wanted to get another ‘biggest loser’ challenge going in the company.  When I started at the company, they were already 8 weeks into a 10 week challenge.  The winner lost something like 40 lbs over the 10 weeks.  I thought the company thing was really cool.  Weigh in days were something everyone kind of knew about (the non-particapants i mean).  It wasnt like a big-event or anything…but you could tell the co-workers were into it and were really ‘fans’ of the particpants…rooting them on and all.  Even one of the company founders was in it.

When Ryan asked if I’d be interested (he was aware of my weight loss goals and progress…I’ve known him for years), I was an instant-yes.  So, our first weigh-in was on friday, and I weighed in at 224.5 (different scale…clothes…whatever ;) ).  We weigh in every friday and this one will be an 8 week thing.  I’m hoping to drop about 2lbs a week which would put me at roughly 210.  My ultimate goal is 190.
