big boy

Teller is in a hurry to be a big boy like his brother.

He has refused to sit in the new booster chair I bought him, it is different then Corbin’s and has a tray.  Instead he will sit in a booster just like Corbin’s and is eating at the table off a plate with an open cup now.  The only difference is his lap belt is buckled, Corbin’s is not, no one is to tell Teller about this.  Twice now he has asked to poop in the potty and been sucessful!!  He seems fascinated with the entire process and likes to tell his poo poo bye bye as it is flushed away.  The other night he kept saying no to being put to bed in his crib.  He pushed himself out of James’ arms ran into the play room, gathered up his water and ran back to his room and climbed into the 2nd twin bed, laid down, let us cover him and went to sleep.  James and I made our way downstairs looked at each other and commented that we didn’t see that coming.  The 2nd night bedtime went smoothly but he woke up in the middle of the night and wouldn’t go back to bed and stay put so I put him in the crib and went out into the playroom.  Who should come walking out of the room behind me – Teller.  Guess he can climb out of the crib!   The move to the big boy bed came at just the right moment.  Can’t say I’m too suprised, he has a great teacher in Corbin showing him how to climb in and out, jump off the crib several times a day.  James and I are talking about taking the crib apart this week.  It’s so weird to go in their room and see both of them snuggled in big boy beds, heads nestled on their pillows.

Corbin currently loves Winnie the Pooh and insists on going to sleep while listening to In Which Eeyore has a birthday and recieves two presents.  The story is the original and quite charming and long.  He also listens to Pooh and the honey tree and we try to read it to him but we didn’t have the original and Corbin got really frustrated because he kept trying to correct us and feed us the correct lines.  I made a trip to the library and we now have the original, at least for 3 weeks.

If I let the boys sleep in the same room at nap time, Teller is the first to go to sleep.  If Corbin hears Teller stir I hear him try and engage him in conversation, “Teller, Teller, it’s me Teller, I have a book about spiders, Teller”.  If I take Teller downstairs if their naps don’t correspond Corbin says, “but who will be with me?”  I hope they are forever friends like my sister and me.  We may not have the same opinions, the same beliefs but we are always there for each other.

Teller has such an adorable friendship with Nora.  If you don’t think one-year-olds can have true friendships you haven’t seen these two in action.  He says her name and it sounds kind of like Laura instead of Nora but you know what he means.  They hug, they play, they miss each other.

The other day we were headed to Poppy and Gigi’s, Teller was very excited, “Gigi, Gigi, Gigi”.  I had to make a quick stop at a friend’s house and Teller realized we were not at Gigi’s as promised, in a pitiful you tricked me cry, “Gigi, Gigi, Gigi”.
